SMB AN-DAB1 Antenna
Our Dolphin Automotive amplified DAB antenna with SMB connection is the perfect glass windscreen mounted for your car or van where your Pioneer or similar head unit requires an antenna to make use of the DAB or DAB+ feature. Please note windscreen mounted antennas are not suitable for cars with a heat reflective metallic coating or heated front windscreen in which case you will need to choice one of our other solutions.
SMA Adaptor
Most Kenwood and Pioneer DAB radio capable head units will use the SMB connector as standard but if you need an SMA connector then we also include an adaptor in the package so either way you are covered with your purchase from Dolphin. This antenna will supply both a DAB and DAB+ signal for UK and European use where DAB radio is broadcast.
Installation
Remove A Pillar Trim
Remove the A pillar trim from the passenger side to expose the metal bodywork of the vehicle. Clean any grease and dirt off of the inside of the windscreen where you are planning on adhering the antenna to the glass.
Peel Of Sticky Backing
The antenna itself has a sticky backed paper to remove from the metal foil earthing tab that will connect with the bodywork and separately a clear film on the antenna and amplifier block which are both stuck to the glass..
Attach To Metal Bodywork
The foil earthing tab needs a good connection to the bodywork to ground the signal for best reception and you may need to remove an area of paint for best results.
Refit Trim
Once in place carefully replace the A pillar trim with the remaining cable hidden inside and running down to underneath the dashboard to plug into your stereo head unit.

Standard SMB Connector as used by Pioneer, Clarion, Kenwood, Alpine, JVC, Blaupunkt etc with Free SMA Adapter if Required. These are the 2 most common connection types and covers most car radios but check your unit before ordering if unsure.
For DAB/DAB+ with stealth element and built in amplifier, DAB Frequencies – Band III: 174 ~ 240 MHz L-Band: 1452 ~ 1492 MHz
With copper ground section for attachment to A pillar, this weighs just 45g and comes with 3m of coax cable. This antenna will not convert a standard FM radio to DAB. Your car stereo will need to have a DAB tuner already for this antenna to get you a DAB signal.
Please note these glass antennas are not compatible with windscreens that have a heat reflective coating – this normally shows up as an oily purple tint. Also if fitting to a heated windscreen you will need to fit it without going over the metal heating elements in the glass.
